Went for the first time for the dinner option not lunch... Went up to get our food and the plates were stone cold. Something I absolutely hate! I work in a kitchen so I know how important it is to have hot plates. With the plates being cold this then made our food cold very fast all thought I don't think the food was that hot anyway. The food was all bland in my opinion there wasn't anything that really stood out to me. The desserts was ok I would say the ice cream was the best as the cakes were dry but the chocolate fountain was pointless to me because all you could use it for were for tiny harribo sweets and marshmallows on a stick?? They was tiny. We went to pay and my partner said about the plates. The worker said the reason was because kids touch them and burn there hands. To me this is stupid because one the parents should be watching them, two why is that fair we have to have cold plates? When we don't even have children? 3 I went up later to check and suddenly the plates were warm I wouldn't say enough to burn your hand.. and I saw children carrying the plates anyway, but why can they have hot/warm plates suddenly? Can't say it's for evening food as this is what we went for the dinner menu not lunch. Didn't find the staff overly pleasant. Deffo not worth the money and wouldn't go again but hey ho have to try There things.

Although when we ate here the heating wasn't working, it was pretty cold, the atmosphere and ambience was still enjoyable. Plenty of different foods to enjoy. They constantly monitor levels and food is replaced for fresh. Our plates were cleared away promptly. The 2 mock tails we ordered were very nice and inexpensive.

Don't go late on a Sunday afternoon, evening, food is not replaced so not all options are available, they should not charge the £20 a head during this time!!!

Staff that cook food don’t wear hair nets .
Complained about the food and the rudest manager come over and said that wasn’t a hair ( when it clearly was even the waiter said it was )
He said if you don’t want to eat here then go 😂😂 very angrily

First time attending here after being told it’s great and good is lovely.
However Service and atmosphere was good, but the food was horrendous. No meat in the Indian curry’s, not a lot of choices in any of the areas. The chicken curry was like was water, no flavour at all. The noodles had no flavour, weird taste. Different selections of chicken I tried and you couldn’t even cut through some of it. Hard, Again no flavour, the chicken tikka sauce had no flavour, watery, had an awful spice to it. No crackers, breads or anything. Chicken nuggets were rock hard, no chips or rice, had to keep checking. A lot of the foods needed topping up /ran out.
All the lids were left open, Deserts were dry and bland. Over all everything we tried was bland.

Although the food was nice and hot, there was limited choice as many of the dishes were empty (we were there 6.30pm). Really, it's mostly fried foods, and Asian curries. I found everything tasted the same ,quite bland, but husband was happy enough. Our bill was £56 (2 meals and 2 drinks), which is the same as we'd spend at a pub.

Pretty good mostly...but, charging us for a 9 month old is baffling. Seemed to not acknowledge when lightly challenged either. It's only 2.99 but unexplainable. To add, the 9 month old had one small piece of pasta from my 3 year olds plate.

I had the best time dining out! The food was incredible, especially the black pepper beef and sweet and sour chicken – honestly, everything was on point. The drinks were refreshing, and the atmosphere felt just right. Plus, the service was top-notch and super attentive. I can’t wait to come back for more!

Umami was a great experience, I went to celebrate a family members birthday, I had pre-booked in advance a table for 6 several days before hand however, when I arrived at the restaurant I was advised they could not find my booking. There were several people waiting to be seated though thankfully the staff immediately apologised and seated us. Plates costed £22 for adults (we went on a Saturday for dinner service) and £11 for children for their all you can eat. Their was quite a large selection to cater for all needs. I had 3 plates in total, starter of shredded duck and pancakes, sweet and sour chicken and black bean beef. The duck was slightly dry but still tasty, the sweet and sour chicken was slightly plain but still enjoyable and the black bean beef was wonderful. My second plate was a large mixture of Chinese pork, butter chicken some pilau rice, lamb ribs and beef ribs. All were cooked well and tasted nice, food was hot and replaced fairly regularly. My final plate was a selection of their dessert options, waffles, mini donuts, cheesecake and some of the chocolate fountain. Dessert tasted great and we're well presented.
The children tried a large selection of food (pretty much everything on offer) and I appreciated the opportunity to allow them to explore different cuisines for as much as they wanted within the 1 and a half hour time frame.
I will be making another trip in the future.
I have tried most of the all you can eats in Telford including jenko's and before they were closed the four corners and world buffet (now a nightclub /bar located above the Telford ice rink) and have to say umami is a good competitor. We asked for water only and had 2 jugs with no ice.

I visited for the first time this weekend and was unfortunately left disappointed with my experience. Food was very slow at being replenished. I was unable to try any of the Indian selection of dishes as every time I went up to the buffet, there was either no curry or no rice left. The Chinese section was similar but not quite as bad. Ultimately, it was not worth the £25 that I paid. Prices are slightly increased on a Saturday evening but if anything they should be decreased if they are not able to keep up with the volume of people. On a positive note, the staff that I had short interactions with were friendly.

Cold food, waitresses stood right over our table felt like we were being watched, 2 of them stepped over mess on the floor which in the end a customer cleaned up!

Went for the first time tonight, overall food was pretty good tried a lot of different foods and everything was cooked well and tasted good only came across one food which was over done and a bit dry. Service was good drinks came to the table in a reasonable time. Ice cream machine and chocolate fountain was really nice. Would go again but probably not too often

Nice buffet set-up, food was fine, not super wonderful/especial compared to other venues, just normal-good. The day I went the teppanyanki didn't appear to be working or was not clear to me if it was. I was impressed with the beef roast carving being an option, as well as burgers, which is not typical from buffet places. I had a big piece of beef rib from that counter and with an extra dash of salt and pepper it was a superb bite.
Atmosphere is quite nice as well.
Service/Attention was good. Waitress didn't fight us over my youngest son not paying since he really was not in good appetite so he didn't end up eating other than a drink and a bite of ice cream from our own serve. She even explained that under 5s pay less anyways but didn't charge that either because he didn't properly eat. Thanks for understanding.
Regarding the food quality/options I'm keen to return and try again other options from the offer.

Really nice atmosphere, staff friendly and efficient. Food was excellent. maybe not as much range as other buffets like Cosmo, but the meat was much better than any other's. Top marks for the Roast beef and the lamb in the curry was awesome.

My wife took me to Umami for my birthday, it was our second time visiting overall. Very pleased with our experience, will definitely be making a return visit.

Came on wed 8th Jan in a party of 10 it was absolutely freezing had to sit with coats on done up to the neck while being blown to death by air con apparently heating was broken and air con wouldn't turn off ... really poor as it was an expensive night to be left with a stinking cold couldn't enjoy the food as there were no cones and definatly no one making burgers ... couldn't understand why there were no plain white prawn crackers all in all terrible experience

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we could not fault whatsoever the service was amazing the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were so friendly. The owner even came over and spoke to us and said he hoped we enjoyed it and he’s was talking to the little ones as well. This will definitely be a regular restaurant to visit for us
The children especially enjoyed the fresh mr whippy ice creams

Extremely good value for money, that's the standout. It costs about £20-£25 per head, for an all you can eat buffet with an exceptional variety of options, including seafood. Only thing I would say is, the booths are inconvenient - as you have to ask someone to stand up every time you go up for more - and there's a bottle neck to get into the buffet. Great food, great value, will be going regularly, as long as it stays for longer than 5 minutes and doesn't get the usual Southwater treatment!

I think for a buffet it was really good, loads of different options so you get a good deal for what they offer. Thanks to everyone that made my daughters birthday very enjoyable. Staff in the restaurant they all been lovely.

New Year family meal 4pm, ruined as food poor quality, only stayed 5mins as disgusted with left overseas and poor food!! Definitely won't be returning to Umami :(
